Lucknow July 16, 2025: Uttar Pradesh’s rising badminton talent Sonali Singh (currently ranked 5th in India – as per BAI rankings) continued her impressive run on the national circuit, winning a bronze medal in the women’s doubles event at the prestigious Yonex-Sunrise All India Senior Ranking Tournament, held in Bhubaneshwar from July 8 to 15. Teaming up with partner Amrutha P, the duo battled their way into the semifinals before falling to the experienced pair of ShreyaBalaji and Deepta S in a tightly contested three-set match: 17-21, 21-13, 15-21.
The tournament brought together the best of India’s senior badminton talent, and Sonali’s performance is a significant milestone for both her career and the state of Uttar Pradesh, which is steadily emerging as a powerhouse in Indian badminton.
Speaking after her podium finish, Sonali Singh expressed both pride and motivation to keep pushing forward. “It was a hard-fought match and we gave it everything we had. I’m proud of how far we’ve come as a team. This bronze means a lot because it reflects the hard work behind the scenes. The support from UPBA and our coaches has been incredible. We’re going to keep building on this momentum.”
UP Badminton Association (UPBA) Chairman, Mr.Viraj Sagar Das, congratulated Sonali and underlined the growing strength of women’s badminton in the state.
